As part of the Mentorum-İDO project, the goal is for senior students in the maritime faculty to establish one-on-one mentoring relationships with experienced ocean-going captains and chief engineers serving on İDO vessels.
Over the course of an academic year, students will spend a few hours at a time on board the ships on days that fit their schedules, receiving professional knowledge, experience, and guidance from their mentors. The goal of this project is to serve as a bridge for our senior students as they transition from academia to the professional world. Before participating in the project, students will undergo a one-day “Mentee Training” session to prepare them for the mentoring process. The entire project will be coordinated by a professional mentoring firm specializing in this field; this will ensure that the program’s structure, implementation steps, and feedback mechanisms are managed systematically. In collaboration with Yıldız Technical University, one of our project partners, we aim to include suitable students in the program.
